MANAKAU'S MONTHLY MEETING Miss Cotter presided over a good attendance at the monthly meeting oi' the Manakau Women's Institute, held recently. After the usual business had been dealt with, arrangements were made for the ball, which is to be held at the end of July. Mesdames Dorset and Cornelius were eiected delega.tes to attend the group rally in Levin. A further collection of food for Britain parcels brought .he total to £2 6s. Mrs. Bennett demonstrated the making of puff pastry, for which she was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Competition winners were as follcws:— Best flowers: Mrs. Dorset 1, Mrs. Staples 2. Bottled pears: Mrs. Neilson 1, Mrs. Dorset 2. Afternoon tea was served and the meeting. closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
