Received Wednesclay, 7 p.m. SYDNEY, July 3. Numbers of Sydney women are now arming themselves against attacks hy thugs by carrying a short, stout waddy concealed in their handbags. A city outlitter sells several of these hatons every day at a cost of 25s 6d. They are weighted and sheathed with smartly lacqnered kangaroo j hide with a neat thong which may he j suspended from the wrist. Male customers include taxidrivers j and men who have to carry money through the streets at night. It is not necessarily an offence to carry l such a weapon unless it is proved that it is carried with int-ent to commit a felony.
