Personal Miss Shirley Sunley is spending a holiday at Waitarere Beach, where she is the guest of Mrs. L. Moffatt. Messrs G. Wood and E. Rolston left yesterday lor a fortnight's holiday in ihe South Island. Mr. and Mrs. Noel Algie and family, of Pahiatua, are the guests nf Mrs. Algie's parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Allen, "Te Maire," Shannon. Visitors to Shannon on the instruction staff of the local branch of Broadway Suits, Ltd., are Misses E. Goring and M. White.

Badminton Compctitions Some 30 badminoon players gathered in the Druids' Hali on Monday evening. The first match of the season for the Hyde buttons was piayeii and Mrs. A. S. Hyde and Mr. S. E. Hyde were successful in warding off the chalienge of Miss M. Fuller and Mr. V. E. Tippler by 15 points to 12. Competition matches played resulted in N. Retter defeattng L. Burling 15—8 and Mrs. D. Riehards defeating Miss N. Moynihan 15 — ^
