WORK ON WAIOPEHU TRACK
FURTHER PROGRESS MADE On Sunday last nine members of the Levin-Waiopehu Tramping Ciub, two of whom were ladies, carried out a good day's work-on the Waiopehu track. Though conditions were cool at times, much work was done in clearing the track extensively to the point which had been reached during the King's Birthday week-end. This part is n early half-way to the old hut site, and the only work to be done on it now is the sawing of several large windfalls. By the time the men had reached the point where the small tara is situated, the ladies had the billy boiling, and a late lunch was soon partaken of. A small part of the track further on was reconnoitred by two of the members and it proved to be rougher than any the party had yet struck. The beginning of this was cleared by the remainder of the party. - By 3.30 p.m. the party had retumed to the lunch spot and shortly after Palmer 's Camp was reached. The trampers eventually reached the Pipe Bridge at 5.30 p.m. The leader was Mr. N. M. Thomson. The club is holding a dance in the Druids' Hall to-night to augument the fund to erect a new hut on Waiopehu.
