) MEETING OF COMMITTEE A meeting of members of the Otaki Commercial Association was iield on Wednesday night, ihe president (Mr.'W. McBeth) occupying the chair. . The subject of the camp at the bcach was discussed, but as the proposed plan was not to hand it was found ihat very little could be done ar present. It was pointed out, liowever, that early action was necessary so the planting season would not be missed. Messrs. Avery and Cook were appointed to see Mr. Buxton and ascertain if he had done anything further in regard to the plan as promised, and that if hc had been unable to make prcgress that advances be made to an architect, who could design buildings. It v/as thought that the Otaki Borough Council would assist in an'y project suggested. It was agreed that no time should be lost, and Ihat the matter of planting be fmali sed by the middle of next nvinth. It was decided to show interest ' in the proposed memorial hall, it oeing agreed that such a hall would be a credit to the town. It was also hopod . that many others would assi ;t. The Railway Hall also came ■ under discussion, and it was pointed out that if this building was elosed to social functions, a hardhip would be encountered in holding dances, etc., to raise^ funds, the only other hall in the" township . being too .small.
