The British Cabinet Mission, in a staterqent, rggrdts that it has not so far proved possible to fqrm an interim Coalition Government. but says the mis§ion and Viceroy are determfned thgt the effort should be renewed in accordgnce with 'the terms of paragraph eight of the Vicefoy's statement on June 16-, in which the Viceroy said that in the event of either major party proving unwilling to jpin in a Coalition, he intended to p'roceed to form an Interim" Government as representacive as/possible. To-"day's statement, continuing, Sxpresses pleasure that constitution making could now proceed with the consent_of the two major parties and the States. It welcomes the statement by the leaders of the Congress Party and Moslem League 'that they intend to try to work-in the Constitutent Assembly, so as to make it a speedy and effective means of devising new constitutional arrangements, under which India can achleve her independence, and hopes that when the discussions are resumed the leaders will do .their utmost to arrive at an accommodation on the Government's composition.
