Keceived Friuav, 8.20 'p.m. CAXBKKK Y, June 21. The Parliamenfary Committee on Broadcasting lias recommended that expcriniental television transmissions be started in Svdney and iMelbourne. The report, which was tabled in Parlia.nient last night, said that television shmild be brought to the Australian ])(;ople as soon a's a' satisfactory service at a reasonable cost can be provided. Other points made in the report are that prnetically all the equipment needed for hlack and white television could be made in Australia and" that as British and American apparatus is not interclmngeable, tlrn ehoice of which type of ajiparatus should be used in Australia wouid bo involved in a deeisiou on Enipire preference. The committee also recommended that i'reijuency modulation should repbu e the present" system ot broadcast"ing in Australia 's capital cities.
