Evidence was given by bookmakers with wliom Mr. A. Scott, part owner, had backed High Plav for a large sum. The horse, which was favourite, ran tliird. The stewards also acecpted the oxplanation of tlie New Zealand jockey, L. Hare, that other- runners forced the horse wider than anticipated when lie was jmoving up on the outside.
