WELLINGTON, June 18. A vast, long-rauge plan for the economic, industrial and soeial reconstruction of tlie Doniinion in postwar years Avas introduced to the conference of the New Zealand Labour Party by the Prime Minister last evening. > The plan, pn Avhich the discussions Avill possibly continue for some days, was evolved by a committee of Ministers and Labour members of Parliament whose duty Avas: i (1) To investigate aiul report upon the economic, hiaterial, physical, flnaucial, and manpOAver resources of the Doniinion. (2) To correlate aud adjust both a Long-range and immediate programme. (3) To devise £)laus to make possible a fnll employment poliey, and thc maxiuium production of consuniable goods and essential services. (4) To provide a plan of development desigued to safeguard and sustain New Zealand 's tSocial Securitv benelits. (5) To provide a balanced iuternal econoiny on a consciously planued basis. The report, Avliieh was intended to eover the development of the Doniinion during the next 10 years, Avas prepared by Messrs Sullivan (chairman), Nasli, Semple, ltoberts, Skinner, O'Brien, Anderton, Clyde Carr, Combs, Langstone and MeCombs. After Mr. Fraser had introduced the report Mr. Sullivan opened the debate, duiing wliich tlie Ministers responsible for eacli Department. of State are to outline the plans tliey made for the future of New Zealand. "No Government can alford to live j on the achievements of the past alone," 1 declared Mr. Sullivan. j Mr. James ltoberts, the national [ president of the Labour Party„ said ! that the report Avas the result of a ; thorough investigation of a vast amount j of duta f ro m State Departments, Avliieh i had been carel'ully correlated by the ! committee.
