Received Sunday, 7 p.m. SYDNEY, June 16. Bitter clashes are eharaeterising the aunual Australian Labour Party conference which commenced yestcrday. The main point at issue concerns a secret meeting oi union officials in which plans were drawn up to removn Communist supporters or sympatliisers from the State executive of the Labour Party. When the conference adjounTeil last night there were factions termed official, centre and right wing, each vvith a tieket. for the electiou of an executive of 32 members. Voting will take place today. Clashes within the party are believed to be the reason for the deeision of the vice-president, Alr. W. C. Taylor, not to stand for re-election. He was prominent in the expulsion of Mr. Lang from tlie party and recentlv was nppointed a member of the Commonwealth Air Lines Commission.
