WELLINGTON, June 17. Sir Bernard Freyberg, about two and a-half hours after he disembarked from his ship this morning, became Governor-General of New Zealand following an impressive ! ceremony, . in which he took the oath of allegiance and the oath of office, and signed the proclamation. As the redoubtable commander of the 2nd N.Z.E.F. Division, Sir Bern--ard was given a warm greeting by jthe many hundreds of ex-service-i men and women among the large J crowd which gathered in Parliaiment grounds for the occasion, and as a distinguished adopted New Zealander he was given an enthusiastii reception bv thousands of Wellington citizens.
