A former newspaper editor, Guillernao Gutierrez, led the revolt. He was wounded and arrested. * The military leader was Major Illianes who fled. Firing began at 6 a.m. when police headquarters were attacked. Government forces' then came to tlie aid of the police and by inidday the revolt was {[uelled. President Villa-roel attributed tlie uprising to reaetionaries.
