WELLINGTON, June 13. The carpentrv training seheme for returneil men had developed to such ari extent that the Rehabilitation Depart ment was one of the biggest contractorfor Etate houses in New Zealand, said IJon. A. Mc-Laglan when reporting to the annual eonferenee of the New Zealand Federation of Lalionr. Since the start of the scheme in 1942, the output of houses by trainees had increased to 440 for the year in 1945 and it was anti cipated the number would be 1300 for the year 19.47, At peak operation tlm trainees would number. about 2000 in carpentry and about another 500 in ancillary trailes.
