Mrs. R. Ward, of Auckland, is staying with Mr. and Mrs. C. Bartholomew, Weraroa Road, Levin. The retirement of Group-Cap-tain T. M. Wilkes is announced by the Minister of Defence, Hon. F. Jones, who paid a tribute of the service to aviation in New Zealand of Group Captain Wilkes. During his 54 years with the forces he held the post of Director of Air Services and also Controller of Civil Aviation. "
