BATTLE FOR RIDING HONOURS

With less than two nionths remaining before the close of the 1945-46 racing season, interest in the battle for supremacy in the jockeys' championship is increasing. A few weeks back N. B. Holland was liolding a commandiug lead, but two other horsemen are steadily making up the leeway. Last Saturday the leader failed to bring a winner home, but his nearest rivals, W. J. Broughton and G. Hughes, each had oue suceessful mount at Otaki and Ellerslie respectively. The points now read: N. B. Holland 48, W. J. Broughton 45 and G. Hughes 43.
