WELLINGTON, June 12. dontinufed Government assistance in any pracricai way was promise'd by the Mimster of Rehabilitation, Mr. C. F. SkinrieT, to the Dominioh conference of the Disabled Servicfemfen'S Re-establishmerit Leagdfe, •which opened in Wellington to-day. The ptfe'sidfent, Mr. J. I. G.oldsmith, in iweicoming the Minister, said the Government's rehabilitation medsur'es were an example to the world. Mr. Skinner said Cabiiifet had nevef, relused hhn firiancial assistance -fdr rehabilitation. "I do ndt 'think there is any limit to which f thfe Government would not go fo ' get our disabled servicemen back into worthwhile jobs," he coiitifiiifed. "If there is a limit, I have not heard of it. 4 There has been no change df Gdvernment pdlicy, nor is there likely to be." The Minister referred to the many disabled and also blindfed men now perf drming highly-speciai-'ised technical work in industry. Mr. Skinner visualised the . time when the wdrkshops would not be utilise'd entifely by disabled servicemen, but also by men who had sufferfed injuries in industry. A riew leagiie centre would be established near Napier soon, with workshops and instruction in horticulture. Corrimenting on the production of artificial limbs, he said there had been considerable discontent in the Dominion, because amputees had to wait, but experts had been sent abroad for instruction. The position had now entirely changed, and before long he hoped artificial limbs would be provided for all who rfequiffed them. This facility would also in time be available to men who had lost limbs in industry.
