The attendance was fairly good, and the meeting' opened with the singing of the New Zealand National | Anthem ancl the Aspira tions. After thej president had welcomed membersj and visitors the business was attended to, which mainly coiieera-i ed the arranging. for the Dominion ! conf ercnce. A 3cl mystery parcel stall did good ! business, and cau ed mueh aimise- ; ment wlien the parcels were opou-] ecl. The speaker for the afternoon was Mrs. D011 Grifllth. wlio was introduced, and then gave a very j interesting talk 011 Englnnd during war-time. It was much appreciated , by all present, and she was aecord- ; ed a heai ty votc M thanks and pre- ; sentecl with a little giffc and . a shoulder spray of flowers. After- 1 noon tea was served by the host- 1 esses, Mesdames s Fanning ancl Evans, and Ihe members then took; part in a communily sing, Mrs.' Trim providing the accompani- ; ment. Thc motto for the mon^h "Cheery People help Weary People forget their Woes" was given, and , the president presented flowers to two members who have birthdays . in June. The competitions for- the month were won as follows; — President's competition, jug of berries: Mrs.; Crowe 1, Mrs. Field 2. Mrs. Evans 3.. Best flower: Mrs. Field 1, Mrs. Hagan 2-, Mrs. Evans 3. Best spray of flowers: Mrs. Field 1, Mrs. Crowe .2, Mrs. Dome 3. The competition j for July, a jug of flowers, a stall forj institute funds and a travel talki were decided on as the main itemsj for the next meeting. The meeting i closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
