WELLINGTON, June 6. . "We are wholeheartedly behiiul tlie Otago- Labour Represen'tation Committee in its support for State bakeries," the secretary of the New Zealand Bakery Trades Employees ' Union (Mr. A. A. McDonald) stated last night. Mr. McDonald said that thumgii State control of tlie baking industry eertaiu essential and badly needed reforms coukl be brought about. Day baking. was one important cliange greatly favoured- Hy tlie workers'. He said it would lead to a savjng of materials so that greater quantities would be available for overseas. Some masfer bakers, he said, were opposed to day baking because they considered it would lead to the public. eating less bread because of staleness.
