-«?» ~ KELLAWAY— PARR WEDDING A pCrfect autumn day faVoured Nancy Isabella, only daughter ot Mr. and Mrs. W. H.- G. Parr, of Ada Street, Palmerston North, when her marriage to Rayner Parsons, only son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Kellaway, of Levin, took place in the erirly afternoon of May 4 at All Saints' Church. Rev. H. W. Monaghan, M.A., performed the ceremony, and Mr. J. Holmes Runnieles played the wedding music including Blake's "Jerusalem" which was tne first anthem s'ung by the choir of H.M.N.Z.S. Philomel, of which the hririp was a member.
The bride, who was given away by her father, v/as picturesque in a graceful gown of chalk white marquisette which had intersections of lace. The close-fitting bodice had a Square neck-line edged with lace and bishop's sleeves, and the full sk-irt swept to a long train edged with pleated tulle. Her embroider•ed tulle veil was held to her head with a top-knot of miniature lilies and she carried a sheaf of St. Joseph lilies. Her only ornament was a crystal pendant on a silver chain which had been lent by an aunt. In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Grace Couper, of Havelock North, and Miss Ettie Skiriner, of Palmerston North. They were similarly attired in picture frocks of aquamarine georgette. The long-waisted bodices which had heart-shaped necklines were horizontally pin-tucked and had short. puff sleeves, the full skirts being ground-length. They wore topknots 'of cyclamen shaded chrysanthemums and carried arm sheaf s of the same flowers. Mr. Eric Tilson, of Palmerston North, was best man, and the groomsman was Mr. W. E. Parr, o^other of the bride. At the reception following at the P.D.C. tearooms Mr. and Mrs. Parr received many guests, the bride's mother wearing a model frock of burgundy crepe embroidered with gold and blue, a felt hat to tone and her corsage was of bronze chrysarithemums. Mr. and Mrs. Kellaway assisted, Mrs. Kellaway wearing a black and white pin-striped tailored s'uit with black hat and sc&rlet shoulder spray. Mr. L. F. Ballinger, of Linton, was toastmaster and proposed the toast to the happy couple. Holding pride of place on the bride's table was the handsome two-tiered cake which had been made by her mother, its decorations having graced the wedding cake of her grandmother (Mrs. Parr, of Tokomaru) , and also the cake for her diamond wedding recently celebrated. Mrs. Parr was a guest at the wedding. When Mr. and Mrs. Kellaway left on the wedding trip the bride trav- . elled in a tan tweed three-piece suit with brown hat and accessories.
During the war the bride was for over two years a Leading Wren officiating as cinema operator. The bridegroom was Petty Officer Radar Mechanic and served with the Eastern, Fleet. After about two months in Wellington they will make their new home in Nelson. Prior to her marriage the bride was entertained by Mrs. Sloman at a kitchen tea and by Miss Ettie Skinner at a gift afternoon.
