w LEVIN CLUB'S MEETING The usual comriiittee rheeting of , the Levin Amateur Boxing Club was j held recently in Mr. J. W. Rimmer's office. • . Mr. C. Larsen reported on his Visit to Wellington and stated that he had purchased boxing gloves,! punching balls and rnedicine balls. He also reported that 8 oz. gloves would be available soon. Mr. Larseri brought to the- notice bf the club the fact that the Government was prepared. to make grants to c.lubs for the purpose of establish-i-ng gymnasiums, so that enthusiasts in all classes of spbrt could attain a measure of physical fitrieSs. If was decided that the Club approach the minister (Hon. W. E. Parry) , for further partiCulars in regard to the grant, it being felt that a properly equipped gymnasium was needed in Levin. Mr. Larsen was extended a hearty vote of thanks. Mr. MeDonald, Oxford Street, donated a medicine ball to the club £md a letter of thanks was sent to the ' donor. Tt was decided to open tne seaSon -on June 10, the Regent Hall having been seeured for this piirpose. Each Monday night will be open for training from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and all those intending to join the training courses are asked to be present for enrolriient. The elub would like to get in touch with any instructors in boxing who are Willing to help in training members. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to Mr. Rimmer for the use of his office.
