The selection of a caudidate for the j llavvke's Hay suat at the coming gen- ! cral election was discussed by a meetI ing of the Labour Party supporters in Wairoa, the majority of wliom favoured Ihe nomination of Mr. E. .Cullen, the present member. Mr. Oullcu said he ! woiil.d prcfer to contest the new llastiings seat, but if it was Ihe desire of the delegales that he should be a caudidate for Hawke's Hay he was prepared to ul)ide by . their decision. Hnpport was also fortlicoming for Mr. Harold Kay, uiiion secretary, of Hastings, who was present at the meeting. It was family decided to forward the names of both to Wellington for final selection. Mr. C. G. E. Ilarker, meiubor for Waipawa, has been mcntioncd as the National Party caudidate, but no oflicial announcement has > yet bceij madc and it is believed a bailot will be necessary bo-tween Mr. Harkcr and an other member of the IIousc before it is decided who will carry the official nomination.
