EX-SERVICE PERSONNEL
SPECIAL EXAMINATIONS WELLINGTON, May 31. The TJniversity of New Zealand has from time to time been requested to con'duct special examinations for serj vice or ex-service personnel but considered that such examinations were quite impossible in many courses, and though possible in one or tWo special ' coures, were, in the definite opinion of the Senate and Academic Board, ' not in the best interest of servicemen, says a statement .issued by the TJniversity of New Zealand. The TJniversity has recently heard representations from various interested bodies' and has reconsidered the whole question and as a result has decided to . hold for 1947 only in the lirst instance, special examinations in professional subjects of the courses for accountants and for solicitors. The examinations will be restricted to those men and women whose lengtliy service has clearly interfered considerably with their academic studies. Possible candidates are requested to await the release of full details of the sclieme before sending written inquiries to the TJniversity ofiice.
