GAVE AWAY THE WRONG TICKET

The phu-cd horses in the coneluding race at Woodville last Saturday were Incline, Persuade and St. Hilton. All paid good priccs. An Aucklander who attended the meeting decided to pnt £1 each way on Persuade and he weut to the totalisator to make his invcstment. While he was waiting his turn in front of oue of the windows a man went up to him and asked him to get him a place ticket on Blanket. The Aucklander asked the man if he would be satislied with a return of ljd on his investment. The man replied that he would not and went away. Later, when the Aucklander was only three or four places from the window, the man who wanted to back Blanket returncd and

asked him to get a £1 win ticket on i Blanket. The Aucklander bought it | but, later, after the race when the i Aucklander was standing in the qucuc ! for his place dividend 011 Persuade, he { discovered he liad given the Persuade I ticket, by mistake, to the nian who liad ( \ backed Blanket. The Aucklander now ! wonders if the man who backed Blanj ket noticed he had been given the i wrong ticket; whether he collectcd on i the Persuade ticket or whether he threw it away. If the man who wanted the ticket 011 Blanket wislres to make 'contact with the Aucklander the addrcss is at this office.
