Although a large nmtibor of cliiblrpn have lu>en inoeulated against diphtheria in the last few weeks, the response to tlie Health Department 's advice has not been suflieiently great to check the spread of tlie disease in Taranaki. The total number of cases so fav reported to tlie Health Department this year is S0. The monthlv tigures, wliieh siioav ti steadv rise from January 27 when tlie first ease was reported, are January 2, Februarv 9, Marcli 15, April 17, and May 37.'
