VALUABLE ANCIENT COINS

Received Monday, 8.20 p.m. LONDON,. May 27. American intelligence officers at Salzburg have recovered ancient gold coins valued at £1,250,000. Thay are believed to have been looted by Hitler to be used as finance for the last stand in the Bavarian redoubt, reports Reuter's Berlin correspondent. Dr. Helmuth von Hummel, once personal assistant to Bormann, was custodlan of the coins. Von Hummel said he moved the treasure to Salzburg on Bormann 's orders in May, 1915, and 'then went into hiding in the Tyrolean mountains. He returned after several weeks and gave the coins as ecclesiastical property into the custody of the Bishop of Salzburg. %
