OVER 7000 CONSUMERS
GREAT GROWTH IN USE OF ELECTRICITY During last month 87 applications for extensions were received j by the. Horo whenua Electric Power Board, according to a report presented to the board at a meeting to-day by the engineer (Mr. J. F. Bryce). They comprised 56 'lighting, 78 heating points, 7 ranges, 15 waterheaters, three milking motors and one industriai motor. The chairman (Mr. G. A. Monk) commented on the report, treating the increased number of applications as an indication of the growth of the district. "It proves," he said, "what would happen if 'we took the lid off and let her go.' The growth of the district would be tremendous." Mr. Monk later referred to the number of connections in the district, saying. that in 1931 there •had been over 3000, whereas today the number was in excess of 7000. It could be expected that the 10,000 mark would be reached in the liear future, he said.
