Personal Mr. Cliff Hook, of Paraparaumu, was a week-end visitor to Shannon. Mr. and Mrs. J. England were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. D. Jones, of Ballance Street. Mrs. G. Gibson and Mr. W. S. Carter and her two children are Lower Huitt Visitors to Shannon, where they are the guests of Mrs. Carter's mother, Mrs. W. S. Carter, of Ballance Street. Mr. Roy Hook and Mr. -R. Quinlan left to-day to attend the New Zealand Returned Services Association conference, which is to be held at Wellington. Flag 500 Winners Winners oi the Flag 500 held by the women's secti'on of the R.S.A. last week were Mesdames A. Thomson and T. Parr and Messrs. R. Harding and E. Thorne. Week-End Basketball All three Shannon basketball teams were successfui in winning their matches at Levin on Saturday. The A team defeated St. Joseph's by 6 points to 5, the B team had an overwhelming win over Otaki Aces B by 22 points to 2 and the C team outpointed College Juniar A by 9 points to 3. Victory Paiade Mr. and Mrs. E. Allen, Brown Street, have received word that cheir son, Cpl. Ernie Allen, has been neld back trom returning to New Zealand to attend the victory parade in London. Cpl. Allen, who xiopes to return home early in July, nas been stationed at a New Zeaxand C.C.S. in England for about cwo years. Accident at Power House Mr. J. D. Campbell, superintendent of the Mangaore power station, received the second" painful injury to his hand within a few months, when on Tuesday he was inspecting repairs carried out to the lift in the po'wer house from the top of the lift shaft, when the lift was operated. One of the heavy weights which control the lift struck Mr. Campbell on the same hand as he had injured a short time ago. Mr. Campbell was taken to the Palmerston North Hospital suffering from a badly crushed hand and shoek. His many friends will wish him a very speedy recovery.
