A prank bv a ten-year-old girl and l.er seven-year-old brotlier, who appropriated two babi.es, with their ]u*ams, from Not t ing llill and North Kensington, eaused tlie biggest hue and crv theJ London Melnipolitan _Police have experienced for vears. The police believing that the babies had been kidnapjied, engaged in a seven liour search in central London and suburbs in which there partieipated loudspeaker vans and evorv police car that could be spared. The search ended when a traffic polieeman at tlie Baker Street undergiound station fonnd two children trying to board a train with two prams and their complaisant contests. The
girl and her brotlier subsoquently admitted that tliey liked plaving as nurse--niaids and appropriated a pram and a babv eaeh beeause they were not ailowed to take their own little brotlier for a walk. They puslied the prams from Notting Hill to Regent's Park, «Avhere thev wanted to see the bab.v panda, the latest addition to the Zoological Gardens. Becoming tired and hungry, they decided to go to Baker IStreet and take the underground liome.
