LARGE PUBLIC BEQUESTS
DUNEDIN, Mav 24. The Universitv of Otago is likely to henefit by a sum in the vicinitv of £10,000 from the estate of Miss Editli Isabelle de Carle, \vlio died in Dunedin last month. Heveral other public^ be cpiests, including a large sum to the Dunedin Retumed Services Association. are also made under the will. The estate was sworn for probate purposes at under £23,000. The will provides for the following public legacies and gifts ^ Otago Women 's Club, £100; Y.W.C.A., Dunedin, £200; St. Mattliew's Aiiglican Church, Dunedin, £250; all pictures to the Dunedin Public Art Gallery, certain valuable articles of period furniture, crystahvare and chinaware to the Otago Museiuu, and subject to certain life interests, the income and capital, at the discretion of the trustee in sums totalling £3000, to the Dunedin branch of the N.Z.R.S.A. for the benefit and welfare of disabled soldiers, sailors and airmen or their dependants. The residue of the estate goes to the Otago Cniversity for its general purposes.
