"Since the eommencement of the service in dahuarv to JMarch 31, 462 emergency cases°have been serviced, made up of 19.3 maternity cases, 229 sickness cases and 35 miseellaneons cases," he said. " Finanj cial assistance by way of redueed charges for services of home aids has i l>een granted to the extent of over £100 ' during the pnst three months. It lias J been impossible so far to meet all the 1 dcmands made on the service. Unfortunatelv a number of very deserving cases had to be declined due to insufficient aids being available. However. with a steadv increase in the aids joining the service it is hoped in the near future to servicp all cases and espeeially those of a more urgent nature. It is the intention of the department to establish a training and accommodation hostel in Auckland almost inunediately, where practical training in all homecraft work and cooking will be given the trainees.
