LIFE OF DANGER LURES WOMAN

"I think to live a happy iii'e is to live a dangerous life," said Madame Anne Collet, widow of Major-Gen-eral Collet, when she reached Sydney by the Australia Star, says the Sun. Major-General Collett, famous French officer was regarded as the "Lawrence of Syria." He escaped cross the border into Transjordania to join the Free French forces on the eve of the British-Australian operations in Syria and Lebanon. "All my life has been dangerous," added Madame Collet. "Since I was 17£, I have been married to a man, and when he left home every morning, I never knew if he was coming back. There have always been Arab revolts, and my husband worked very closely with the British authorities in suppressing them," she said. Her husband died in April last year, from wounds he suffered in the Syrian campaign. Madame Collet herself carried out liaison work between British and French troops in Palestine and Syria. As soon as the French went through into Germany, Madame Collet went through as a war correspondent. In Australia, she will lecture in the hope of uniting all Frenchmen behind one France. She has four sisters in Sydney, who were at the boat to meet her.
