Nelson's fruit crop has exceeded the estimates made earlier in the season and when the 40,000 cases of late variety apples are harvested the total for the season will be 1,154,000 cases of apples and pears. The fruit received at the assembly j depots from the orchards up to toI day totalled 1,114,313 cases j (1,051,033 of apples and 63,280 of pears), comparea with 821,551 cases last year (764,894 of apples and 58,657 of pears) . The main apple ■ variety has bee.n Sturmer, of which { 189,449 cases have been picked, t with another 30,000 to 40,000 cases j yet to come. There has been a pariticularly good crop of Cox's Orange, jthe total being 149,617 cases, more | than double last year's crop. Jonath'ans totalled 234,274 cases and Delicious 189,449 cases. The main variety -of pears has been Winter Cole, >30,344 cases, with Winter Nelis next, 5126 cases.
