Personal • Mrs. L. Wilson, of Taumarunui, is the guest of her parents, .Mr. and Mrs. E. Chester, Ballance Street. Mr. Tom Roach left for Wellington yesterday on the first stages of his holiday trip south. The friends of Mr.. Spencer Easton.will be pleased to' hear that he is up and about again after his fecent illness. Mrs. N. Ray, of Palmerston North, is spending "a short holiday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomson, of Nathan Terrace. . Mrs. Muir and her two children, Garry and Lynett, and Mrs. Wrighton, of Lower Ilutt, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. Small for a few days. Miss Ngaire Thomson has returned home after spending a holiday at New Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. C. Wishart have also returned to Shannon after spending a holiday at Thames. The many friends of Mr. W. Moynihan will regret to learn that he has found it necessary to enter Maitland Private Hospital, Palmerston North, for treatment. We join with Mr. Moynihan's many friends in wishing him a speedy recovery. Mr. Stewart Gledhill, who has been a resident of Buckley for a number of years, left yesterday to go into business ih the Ohakune district. His many Shannon friends will wish him every success in his new venture. Euchre Winners Prize winners at the Labour Party's euchre tournament on Friday evening were Mrs. B. Coulter and Mr. D. Harris. Unfortunate Mishap Mr. George Moss had the misfortune to meet with a mishap while working on the State Housing. site, Grand Street, recently.. Some tiinber which he was stacking slipped and injured his leg. Mr. Moss will oe off work for two or three,weeks. Baclminton A number of Shannon badminton players visited Manakau 011 Monday evening for the opening of the Manakau Club's season. A most enjoyable evening was spent and some interestihg badminton played. There was only a small attendance at' tl^e .JDruids' Hall on Monday evening for the Shannon Club's bi-weekly night. No competition matches were played.. On Thursday evening the club will hold its usual matches and competitions. Farewell Presentation After 20 years' service on the staff of the Shannon Dairy Company, Mr. Harold Tippler has relinquished his position and a gathering was held in the factory ofhces. on Friday afternoon ' to bid him farewell. On hehalf of th staff, Mr. J. Alexander prcsented the guest of honour with a smoker's stand and Mr. C. M. Cronquest, on behalf of the company and directors, handed Mr. Tippler an envelope and wished him every success in his new position.
