NATIONAL PARTY LLECTS LXS OFFIOERS LEVIN BRANCH MEETS There was an attendance of almost forty at the annual meeting of the Levin bi;anch of'the New ■Zealand National (Party, -held in the Gqntury Hall last night. Apologies for absence were received from Mr. and Mrs. H. Denton, Mrs:. B.aldick, Mr. ,and Mrs. W. H. Walker a-nd Messrs. A. H.; Burgess and H. Bf Burdekin. The -p.residont (Mr. D. •p. Todd) occupied the chair. In his report, the president said that -the membership of the bran&n was -now .296. He referred to the recent visit to Levin of Mr. R. M. Algie. "By his approach tp pofitical -subj ects and- his clear ' analysis of ihe present state of a.ffuirs in New .Zealand, and the dogical xesulfcs that could be expeeted from the present situation, Mr. Algie .co.m•manded the respect and attention of all who heard him," s.aid Mr, Todd. The junior -branch of ,the. party had been active during the •ygar and was of great value in arousing the interest bf , young people in politics. The report concluded by exhorting the members to "get behind" their committee in •this election year. A -vote of thanks was then passed to the retiring secretary, Mr. H. J. Jones. After the meeting had heard an address in committee by Mr. Theo •Hills, secretary of the Welling'ton division, the electioh of ofhcers for the year was held. It resulted as follows: — President: Mr. Ian S. Park; vice-presidents : Mr. C. Welsh and Miss H. E. Bow.en; -secretary ■and treasurer: Mr. E. Tyrrell committee: Mrs. W. H. Walker, Misses •G. Rowley and Nola Walker and Messrs. D. P. 'Todd, B. L Jones, J. Tomlinson, F. B,est, K. S.haw, -S. B. Mexted, W. Bull, S. Haswell, Ancliffe, A. R. Bryant (Arapaepa.e) , W. Copping, and I. D. Parsons (Bruce Road) . A motion proposed by Mr. R. ,G. Romans to the eflect that the com•mittee be empowered to co-opt as •rnany additional members as it thought fit, was passed by the meeting. Before the meeting closed. votes oi thanks were passed to the retiring committee and to the Press. .
