Awards for Bravery American decoratlons were presented to two members of the New Zealand military forces at a ceremonial parade at Papakura Camp. The Rev. Paul Sergel, chaplain of the 25th New Zealand Infantry Battalion, was awarded the U.S. Silver Star for gallantry in aetion at Cassino on May 15, 1944, and Sergeant George James Black, M.M., of the 18th New Zealand Armoured Regiment, was awarded the U.S. Bronze Star for heroic achievements in military operations in Italy on May 1, 1945. Standing of 2nd N.Z.E.F. The regard with which the New Zealand Division was held in other ■ countries was instanced at the civic v/elcome home function in Wanganui on Saturday, by Major R. K. Gordon, who quoted a happening at a passing-out ceremony at a French military academy. The visiting general, instead of giving the men an address on a famous French military Teader, -spoke to them about ! the New Zealand Division and asked the French troops to model themselves on the lines of these famous fighting men. Cars on Domain The presence of cars inside the Levin Park Domain at last Saturday's football was reported to a meeting of the Levin Borough Council last evening by the town clerk (Mr. H. L. Jenkins). The council viewed this with concern, it being pointed out that the grass was liable to be cut about in wet weather and shrubs and palms could be damaged. The council reafArmed its previous decision that cars were not to be allowed inside the domain, except under special circumstances such as in the case of invalids.

Centennial Stamps The Post Ofiice advises that the Id Centennial stamp (both ordinary and official) and the l^d Centennial stamp overprinted "tenpence" are ' to be withdrawn from sale on May 31. The £d values have been on issue since January 2, 1940, and the lOd overprints since May 1, 1944. The -|-d Centennial denomination is being replaced by the 4-d (brown) King George VI issue (both ordinary and official) . The lOd stamp, however, is not being replaced at present, there being now little demand or need for this denomination.

Want Brigadier Censured "I was among the two hundred?dd prisoners who were used as a hield by the Germans on Crete, and I know that Brigadier Inglis was on the wrong track in making' his statement," . said Mr. T. M. Brooks, member of the Palmerston North branch of the New Zealand Returned Services' Association, at the annual meeting of the branch last evening. "The Brigadier was on the island, I believe, but in another sector. We had to carry our wounded out of the stfeam of fire." Another member stated that he was one of the gunners who were forced to fire on their own • men, and indicated that the man beside him at the meeting was also in. the same position. It was unanimously agreed by the meeting that the delegates to the annual conference of the N.Z.R.S.A. in Wellington be instructed to censure_ Brigadier Inglis Yor the evidence he gave at the international tfial at Nuremberg on behalf of Colonel-General Kurt Student.
