Aside from a couple of command performances for royalty in Europe, A1 Jolson recently put on his first full dress .performance for a solitary individual.- And farI.fromrbeirig a king, that' individuajl .was just afi • ordinary young . .man ,wfio a few short years ago was 'living in an isolated part ,of Iliinois.. He is Larry Parks, who is playing ,Jol-' son on the screen. In the midst df rChehrsals, Parks confe'ssed sheepishly, "No, Al, I've never seen you on the stage." Whereupon ' Jolsori 'phoned the head of Cbluriibia Pictures' music department, arranged for,' an. orchestra, apd' .tbok Parks ,in to a. theatre which had' beeii erected for the film, "The, Jolsori Story," a technicolour music- drama. ;,The impromptu show, .lasted four. hburs.
