MIDDLEWEIGHT BOXING
DUNEDIN, May 20. In a rather one-sided middleweight lioxing contest at the Town Hall tonight, Jack McCann, Wellington, 11.0, defeated Norman Ross, Greymouth, 11.6 by a kuockout in the ninth round. McCaun displaved superior ringeraft aud a more eft'ec'tive punching ability throughout, Ross failing to win more than two rounds. McCann was all over Ross in thc ninth round. After forcing his opponent on to the ropes, thc Wellington man connected with a heavy inside right to the jaw, followed by a vicious right nppercut which floorecl Ross, who just failed to beat the count. The atteiidance was about 3000.
