VACATION DANCE

JUNIOR NATIONAL PARTY'S FUNCTION — 1 On Thursday night last, a large i number of the dancing public of i Levin and district braved unpleasi ant weather conditions to attend ! the va'cation dance sponsored by |the Levin branch of the Junior National Party. The hall was fineiy decorated with ferns, pampas grass, hydrangeas and flax, while che main lights were draped with blue and white material. Sports were well to the front with basketball, football, tennis and swimming being effectively represented by appropriate costumes and gear. In a short . speech, the president (Mr. R. Denton) expressed pleasure at seeing so many visitors present, and expressed the hope that all would bear with the committee in their supper arrangements. He then explained that the National Party was supporting His Worship the Mayor (Mr. H. B. Burdekin) in his appeal to save food for Britain, and that in support of the appeal, a supper of- biscuits, coffee and tea would be served. In subaued lighting", dancing continued till 1 a.m. to music by the highly popular Swing Stars Orchestra. Many favourable comments on the success of the evening were received and congratulations are due to those responsible for this very enjoyable night, which will l-ong be remembered by those present. . . ;
