. -♦ — - — The death of Mr. C. W. Hodge, secretary-maiyager of the Chri§t^ churcli Gas Company, occurred oh Saturday evening. Mr. .Hodge was educated at Scratford District H^h School and Victoria University Gpllege. He was general mana,ger: of the Taranaki Daily News before 3ae went to Christchurch as manager of the Star-Sun in 1940. He Had held his present position for sofoe years. Mr. Hodge leaves a wife and two daughters. After attending two importont meieorolQgieai confererices in Lyndon and liiaking a study of new 4evelopments in the United- States, Wing'-Comraander M. A. F, Barrpett who, in civil life, was DRector ol^ Meteorological Services, returned to New Zealand by the Matson liner Monterey which arrived at Auck-r land on Saturday, ' Wing Commander Barnett left New Z&ald.hd in February to attend the first. cpnferefice since the war of the Infornational Meteorological Organfsation in London. He later attended. the Empire Meteorological Confprence there before leaving for the United States where he spent about three weeks obtaining up-to-date information on meterological research. _ .
