WELLINGTON, May 17. A -vvell attencled inoeting of the WolJijigton Broviiu-ial RetailoFrui.t Traders' Association today aflinned the decision not to lray any produce with container cliarges. In order to meet the public. deniand they liought evervthing on the auction market floors that was free. of container cliarges. Very few goods, however, found their way to the retail shops. Meanwliile four open air markets in the city area catered for thousands of housewives who could not get supplies at their norraal greengrocers. These were operated by the eommercial growers. What stocks retail shops had were sold early in the raorning. Prices at the open air markets in some cases were as low as half those in the retail shops and this accountcd for ceaseless trading all dav. Custoiners were provided free with eapacious paper bags with string handles.
