EASTER WEDDING
NEIL— THIRD In the late morrimg :of Easter Saturday at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Palmerston North, which was decorated with bowls of dahlias and Iceland poppies for the occasion, Helen Barbara, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Third, of Vance Street, Shannon, was' married to Ronald Leslie Neh, eldest son of Mrs. A. G'.'. Hagley, Oturoa Settlement, Levin. The officiating minister was Rev. J. Hubbard, M.A;, B.D., and Mr. ,C. Fife played appropriate music, The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore an ivory satin trained gown,, with long full sleeves gathered at the waist, and a heart-shaped neckline. Loaned by her cousin, Mrs. H. L. Taylor, Tokomaru,- the beautifully embroidered long tull veil fell softly from a coronet of white flowers. She carried a shower bouquet of white begonias, charm dahlias, orange blossom and maidenhair fern tied with white satin ribbon. In attendance on the bride was her sister, Mrs. M. Hobbs, of Palmerston North, in pale blue sheer and the bridegroom's half sister, Miss Violet Hagley, in •pale pink sheer. Similarly made, their f rocks were long and gathered at hip length from a broad shaped waistband. ' The bocliqes were simply cut, with' elbow.-length sleeves and featured hcart-shaped necklines. They carried trailing bouquets of pastel-shaded charm dahlias and maidenhair fern. Both wore matching flowers in their hair and gold armlets, the gifts of the bridegroom. The retinue was completed by a flower girl, Doreen Hagley, half-sister of the 'groom, who was dressed in a long pink gathered frock made with short sleeves. She v/ore a bandeau of flowers in her hair and held a Victorian posy. In attendance to the bridegroom was his brother, Mr. E. Neil, while the bride's brother, Mr. A. Third, carried out the duties o'f groomsman. Messrs. W. Third and P. Hagley were ushers. On leaving the church, wee Jean Kilmister, a niece, presented the bride with a silver horseshoe. A reception was held in the Royal. Dutch Tearooms, where over 50 guests were received by Mrs. 'Third and *. Mrs. Hagley. The bride's mothe'r was becomingjy attired in a floral silk frock, a fur coat with a spray of red roses and black acces"sories.. The bridegroom's mother was wearing a floral frock, navy coat and ^ccessories and also a spray- An ^autumn .snades. Mr. A. Seaton was toastmaster, all the usual toasts being honoured. Mr. H. L. Taylor (Tokomaru) proposed that-of the bride's parents and Mr. J. Allen (Levin) that of the bridegroom's mother. In pride of place at the bridal table, was a twotiered white ieed wedding cake, topped by a dainty ornamental vase of artificial flowers, the latter the gift of Mrs, J. Kilmister. All the bouquets were made and presented
by Mrs. J. Kilmister and the sprays and buttonholes by Mrs. K. Mitchell. When Mr. and Mrs. Neil left by car on their wedding trip to the Hawke's Bay Mrs. Neil was wearing a powder blue frock, fawn jeep coat and black accessories. They will reside in Shannon. Prior to their wedding, Mrs. K. Thomson and Mrs. W. Third hostessed a pantry evening, some 30 guests bringing gifts for the bride-to-be. A happy time was spent in dancing and games at Laurvig's Hall. Relatives also combined and organised a surprise party, the surprisers, *40 strong, bringing gifts for kitchcn usq to her parents' home.
