CONFERENCE FAILS TO AGREE
Received Fridav, 12.11 a.m. SYDNEY, May 16. A conference today bctween the Minister of Supply and Shipping, Senator Ashley, and the Stevedoring Industry Commission failed to settle the shipping dispute because it proved impossible to obtain agreeinent _to a tempoi;arv cessation of double dumping of wool pending an .inquirv. Tlie emplovers' representatiyes insisted tliat. wool for the current shipment should continue to be doulde dumped wliere necessary, to oiitain full use of shipping s]iace. Another attempt to settle the -dispute will be made tomorrow when the Acting Frime Minister, Mr. Forde, will fiy to Sydney and co'hfer with Senator Ashley.
