SHANNON SlIJ-'cEXTRE MEETS A meeting ^of- the Shannon subcentre of the Red Cros& Society ^was held - in Laurvig's Hail on , Tuesday af ternoon. Those - ■ presqnt were: : Mesdames J; A, Eas.ton (p'resideht): , J. T. Bovis, Hateley, Chester, Buirling and J. A. Creagh Csecretary) . Apologies were feceived. froifl &[esdames Barber, Campbeli,. . ;Wylic, Allen and Roberts; * *:»•;. ;■ It was decided to approaqh' the proprietors , of gfocery establishments in Shannon requesting thein to place boxes bearing,- ^the slogan "Food For' Britain"- in "prominent places in their shops, the idea being that customers should ' ha've ' the opportunity of subscribing to this appeal by purchasing an odd tin or two of suitable foodstiiffs ' ?ahd dropping them into Lhe boxes. Members would clear the 'boxes from time to time and forward the contents to the Red Cross " Society for dispatch overseas. ' The secretary was instructed to write to Mr. . F. Edmonds, asking him if he would be willing tb act as auditor for the sub-centre. • Comforts donatedj by members were packed into a parcel for the Old People's Home. »
