To delermine whctlier Auckland sliould be li-nked to the northern Buburbs by a tunnel road or bridge across the liarbour, or whctlier a new de])arture was nccded, is the broad scopo of a Iloyal Oommission which. oponed its sittings today under the chairmanship of Sir Francis Frazer. The Cominission will state what imnrovenients should be made to the ferry services if they remain in operation. A great deal of evidenee is to be heard and the sittings will probably oecupy three or four weeks.
