APPEALS DISMISSED
INCIDENTS IN BIRDCAGE NEW PLYMOUTII, M.av 14. The appcal of Mr. Joseph Afo/ou, of Opunake, agaiust the peiialtwjs imposed upon him by the Taranaldoockey Club as a result of incidents in the birdcage after the running- of the Urenui Handicap ou the second day of the Taranaki Jockcy Club's Autumn meetiiig at New Plymouth on klarcli .11, was dismissed by thc Taranaki District Coininittee at Stratford toniglit. The decision, Avhich Was unanimous, stated "that in pursuance of the powers conferred on it by the Kules of Eacing 361 (1) (a), it is resolvcd- that in respcct of the appcal agaipst the de-. cision of the Taranaki Jockcy Club ou April 4, 1946, the . appcal be dismissed, and pursuant to .the poAvers conferred on it by thc Kul'es. of Babitfg 364 (1) and (2) that the £5 depo&jt lodgcd be applied towards the payhient of the costs and expen'ses of .th'e appeal up to£20. . ..... - " The penalties imposed upon Mr. A. C. Lloyd by the Taranaki Joekey Club in conuection with a similar incident were confirmed Fy.tUe disfrict couxmittee. Messrs Moron and Lloyd Avere origimilly charged by - the Taranaki Jockey Club with improper behaviour towards the judge (Mr. A. Y. O'Brien).
