Received Tuesday, 7.30 p.m. LONDON, May 14. Britain 's birthrate is shovving a tendency to ieap. Buring the first quarter of this year 17,000 more babies were horn in England and Wales than in the last quarter of 1945 and it is estimated there will he 40,000 more hirths in the current quarter than in the 'one just ended. Mr. Bevin has made a nation-wide appeal to help mothers and local authorities, voluntary hospitals and mu-sing associations are asked to work together to make the utmost use of ldcal resources.
