WAGE TAX DEDUCTIONS
CHANGES IN PROCEDtJIlE The postmaster at Levin (Mr. L. A. Whitham) has advised that ih future wages tax on amounts of £2 or more must be paid ih cash and not in stamps, and a receipt obtained from the mohey order office. A reprint of the wages tax form has been isSued which requires Ohiy one signature, WhereaS the previous form required tWo. It is stated in the instructions on the form that the tax, which is payable by all persons of 16 years of age or over, muSt be paid within three days of deduGtion from v/ages unless the period has been extended by special arrangement with the Commissipner of Taxes, after which the 10 per cent. penaity accrues and other penal provisions may be invoked, Salaries, wages, directors' fees, bonuses, ' or other remuneration aid on or after a date oh which a chahge ih the rate of wages tax occttfrs, but derived ih respect of a period priof to that date, remain liable to deductioh at the rate ruling prior' to the chahge.
