ELDERLY MAN KILLED

D UXED1K, May 13. As the result of liis drill striking a charg'o wliich w.as thought to have been detonated some days ago, Fdwin lioland Moore, retired railway inspeetor, aged 71, who resides at iMaeandrew Bay, was killed while working at the Dominion Fertiliser Works at Ravensbourne today. Deeeased was engaged in eonipany with other employees of the Fletcher Construetion Company, in de''yolishing ^ concrete wall. A number of ch.urges liad been laid on Friday last and all iv.ere thought to have been exploded on the sauie day. It is understood some mistake was made in reekoning the number of charges which liad been detonated and tliis morning deeeased and some other men were working with air drills on the wall prior to laving more charges. Deeeased 's drill came in contaet with an unexploded eharge and he was severely injurcd. He was removed to liospdtal at 11.45 a.m. and died at 12.30 p.m.
