Personal . Mr. and Mrs. Vin. Freeman, pf Feilding, who have been spendihg a holiday in Otaki, left yesterday for Waikanae. Old Age Benefits Old age benefits will be paid out at the Otaki Post Office on Tuesday, May 21, and others on Thursday, May 23. . Non-Party Government When attending a meeting in the South lsland to consider alterations in the method of electing members 'to Parliament, Mr, E. J. Graham found that several of those present were of the opinion that many strong supporters -of both the Government and the Opposition were willing to give the matter favourable consideration upon non-party lines. Accident with Tractor Mr. Lyall Jepson, while cranking a tractor on Friday, had a very narrow escape from serious injury. The tractor was ih gear at the time, with the result that it >bounded forward, knocking Mr. Jepson over. Probably he would have niet with very serious injuries had the wall of a shed not been a saviftg factor. Mr. Jepson, however, was badly bruised, but is making a splendid recovery from the mishap. Benefit Concert ,, ■ A concert that deserves the cooperation of residents of the town and district will be held on Friday, May 17, in the Anglican Hall, the proceeds of which will be towards the Paul Hoskins Memorial Boys' Hostel. Among the performers will be high class talent, including Miss Margaret Lawrie, L.T.C.L., L.R.S.M. (pianiste) , Miss Iris M. Sutherland, the popular contralto vocalist, of Palmerston North and Miss Edna Eyre (accompanist) , also of Palmerston North. Admission will be ls 6d only and children half-price. The concert will be a musical treat and one that should not be missed.
