LAND FOR INDUSTRIES
J.
MoLEOD
Sir, — Regarding the petition of 31 residents and. ratepayers, and my letter of April 13, against the Levin Borough Council utilising the iand in Cambridge. Street for factbry sites, nothing further has been heard. It is understood' the couii'cil is not withdrawing from its scheme. Perhaps in fairness to those who petitioned the council, His Worship the Mayor would- publish in detaii through your columrts the reasons whibh the council considered made it so imperative that this land be utilised in the manner planned. If His Worship would make known these reasons it would be possible to obtain a better indication of the wishes of the burgesses as a whole, by which ho . doubt His Worship seeks to be guided. Yours etb..
Levin, May 14. The Considferation given to this matter by the Mayor and Couneillors at the time it was decided to make the area of land available for industry, and subsedu'entiy When the deputation waited on the council, together with the individual views of the Mayor and meihbbrs of the council wete fully reported in "The Chrbnicle" on Mdrch 20 and April 17. ..
